Fabulous! Fabulous! Easy, delicious, memorable recipes!!

I am a big fan of the "Fast" cook books Hugh and Teri publish. They use fun, interesting flavors in different ways - it is (almost alway) a Party in your Mouth with one of their recipes.

Spent the summer teaching my 19 year old son how to cook as he has a real appreciation for good/healthy/clean food and he wanted options other than the cafeteria while at college. Now that he's progressed beyond how to boil water, I gave him Fast Appetizers, Fast Entrees, and Fast Fish as he settled in to his new place. All books are fantastic but Appetizers has made him quite the hit with his college buddies. Great ideas, beautiful pictures, scrumptious recipes, and easy to implement. Thanks, Hugh!

The recipes in this book were really simple to make. My guests were wowed by my creations! I substituted certain items for others and the food still came out great. Easy, fast recipes and very tasty!

This is a good book on appetizers. The ones I've tried are in fact easy to make and delicious. But I find this book difficult to use: it seems I have to flip through every page in order to find appropriate appetizers, all because the Table of Contents is wacko. Take, for example, some of the chapters: Bar Food Nibbles; Crudites for Small Parties and Crowds; Quick Cheese Appetizer Wonders; Sizzling Appetizers from the Grill and Oven; Meatball Appetizers; New Ideas for Pizzas. These are overlapping categories. Quick Cheese Appetizers can certainly be Bar Food Nibbles, and Bar Food Nibbles can include New Ideas for Pizzas as well as Sizzling Appetizers.No clear thought went into organizing these chapters. Busy cooks need easy-to-use books.

I rarely entertain guests, but thanks to this book, now I can do it in style. My boyfriend invited several of his co-workers over for a coctail party and I dazzled them with my wonderful, good tasting finger foods, hot and cold appetizers and pastas. They were all easy to make and fast, they looked so pretty and didn't last at all. This book has well over 100 different easy to make recipes, some of the wives are calling me and asking for my recipes...

I love the LDV blog. I was super excited and could not wait to receive my book. I wanted to see the PICTURES! But how many more pictures can we see of Paloma's house? I counted seventeen(17!! )of her living room, and multiple photos of her bedroom, dinning room, powder room and office. I don't have any other book that has repeated so many photographs of one space in a home. I wish there were more pictures of other projects we had not seen on her blog and only one picture of each room in her home.

I’ve read Paloma's blog for ages and bought the book at a minimum as an exchange for all the wonderful free content she’s provided over the years. And it’s well written with lovely photos. I didn’t give it five stars because there are a lot of photos of her home, which I feel has been pretty extensively covered on her blog. I would have liked to see more photos of client projects.As an aside, I also ordered Grant Gibson’s new book and in general, the “advice” is the same. I think the narrative where an author advises a reader they don’t know can be a challenge. I’d love to see a book where projects are presented with commentary like, the client wanted abc and because of this, I did xyz.

Paloma’s blog is enjoyable to read. She covers a variety of subjects and has a nice writing style. the writing in her book was just as enjoyable. What was very disappointing to me was the lack of photos showing a variety of projects and not yet seen by those of us who follow her blog. I was stunned by the amount of photos that not only have been posted to her blog, but were actually repeated more than once in this book. At first I thought I had gotten a book where a page was mistakenly repeated but it was actually just the same photo we have seen before in the blog and twice in the book.

I order lots of design books and many times I’m disappointed or feel like I’ve seen a lot of the images before. They are more like a compilation of magazine photos. This book is different. I made time to read it in one sitting because it was so interesting to read. Paloma addresses inspiration in a way that I’ve never read before but it makes so much sense. I appreciated the beautiful photography but more importantly, it seemed very well thought out and presented in such an organized and logical manner. I feel like I’ve gained insight and think her advice will help me make better design decisions.

I was honestly shocked, very bland, same pics of the same rooms page after page. Not inspiring.

We are in the process of decorating our new apartment right now and Paloma’s new book has practically become my bible. I am a total amateur when it comes to decorating and often find interior design books to be beautiful, but not very digestible or especially helpful because of that. Paloma really takes the time to break things down in her book, making interior design approachable for everyone (even me)! Her style is classic, yet modern and glamorous and I find myself so pleased with every decision I’ve made in our home as a result of her suggestions. I can not recommend this book enough!

I preordered Dream, Design, Live as soon as it became available. It was long awaited and hasn’t disappointed. This lovely book looks right at home on my sofa and is nearby to inspire and educate me on ways to combine the traditional to look fresh and modern. The photography delights the eye and provides a visual the helpful design tips. I plan to purchase copies to share with my daughters.

Was happy to add this to my book collection. Loved all the tips and beautiful photos inspiring everyone to develop their own taste which is refreshing these days. A treasure trove of ideas! Read cover to cover and will be a gift I give to all my friends!

More importantly, she grasped how society has attempted to help people with severe and persistent mental illnesses.Once the asylums closed, it is estimated that 1/3 of the homeless population suffers from schizophrenia. Based on the American Psychiatric Association’s website, one in five of prisoners of our expensive prisons are seriously mentally ill. Many of the severe and persistently mentally ill people had no place to go when the asylums closed---thus, they ended up homeless. Many got into trouble and ended up in our expensive and non-therapeutic prisons.I worked as a clinical psychologist at an older asylum that was originally constructed in 1854. I decided to write an Archie Bunker version of mental health based on my experiences—TWO DAYS AT THE ASYLUM. It was supposed to be a bizarre novel about the happenings within an asylum. During the writing of this politically incorrect novel, I realized society must return to the asylums or at least provide therapeutic housing for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is crazy what our contemporary society does not do to help people who are psychotic.

In the vast world of architectural books there are volumes covering most construction types. Railroad buildings are one type which has multiple volumes. When it comes to building types of less-than-savory functions, such as meat packing plants (actually a fascinating building form) the literature is sparse, to say the least. Thus, it is a surprise that this book would find its way to market. Ms. Yanni has done her homework well and efficiently. Arranged in general chronological order she covers the development of lunatic asylums in America and, secondarily, in Great Britain, throughout the nineteenth century and into the twentieth century. It is an excellent book with excellent illustrations and I highly recommend it for anyone with an interest in the history of American lunatic asylums.

A work very much focused on the architecture of the Kirkbride plan for asylums and a work well worth investing in, should one's tastes lean in that direction.

The research that was completed for this book is so detailed as to capture a different time in our history and in the history of the insane asylum. She asks and answers such good questions and captures why these buildings were built in such a purposeful way. I loved it.

this is one creepy book,but well documented, and provides a context for mental illness treatment methods, and the role of architecture

Gotta be read. Verbal review just can't do the subject justice. It's got to be picture too --so a reader should go online and search "Historic mental institutions" etc. etc .There once was a "kingdom of confinement" that was big, big business. The populationwas that much smaller . . . yet there were that many committed to fill the nation-wide"asylum-chain" extent of institutionalization!?!?!?!?

It surpasses my expectations adding new information to those I had researched myself.

I bought this book to help me make sense of remedies and it's endless formulas. On the plus side, the book clearly lays out the issues (after a somewhat clunky start) and has lots of the examples we've all come to love. It also lays out how each remedy works and why it is or isn't suited to the cause of action. But in the end I didn't use it much because the material was so dense and was often dividing my time reading the assigned material and this book. If you don't mind doing a deep dive, this is a good read. If you need something a little more quick, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

This book is very helpful in understanding the complexities of remedies. I read it in conjunction with my textbook for class. I also incorporate it in my outline.

Definitely recommend this E&E. It really lays it all out. Thank you Professor Hasen for teaching me this course in a clear and concise manner.

You can't even show the table of contents? I'm not buying a book if I can't even see the table of contents in the sample!
