I can't tell you how many times I've bought a book that was lacking content and Eat With Intention does not disappoint! This book is FILLED with quick meditations and healthy recipes I'll actually make. It bridges the gap between the mind and body connection as it presents emotional and physical health as equals. As someone who doesn't always make time for meditation and self-care, this book is a little nudge for me to make small changes to fix that. It's also a great read for someone who wants to make a change, but isn't sure where to start.

I love this book as though I own many, many vegan, vegetarian, raw cookbooks -this stands alone in not only delivering recipes but making us take a breath, pause and really TASTE our food.Many of us live these crazy, multifaceted lives - I know in my case breakfast on weekdays is normally a Greek yogurt with various toppings – consumed soon after I wake with spoon in one hand and phone in the other as I catch up on emails before work! Lunch is normally in the car between work appointments and on a good day is a home made salad or soup – on a bad day some kind of chocolate or protein bar wolfed down so I can keep going; and though we do dinner together as a family, around the table each night -I cannot recalls how many times I finish first so get back to paperwork – in short, I am not really enjoying the rich taste of the food!! I am eating to move on to the next task!And that is why this book stands apart. Not only is it chock full of delicious, good for you recipes -the premise is mindful eating. Taking that pause, really tasting each bite, and eating being a simple pleasure of enjoying the many tastes on our plate, not wolfing food down just to get some energy! This book serves to truly connect mind, body and soul and making all three aspects of our being - healthier!There are over 70 recipes, all plant based – but most interestingly, each is accompanied by some kind of mantra or meditation designed to make us pause. The recipes are generally simple to make, using easily attainable ingredients -a big plus as I do not want to add the cost or travel time to seek out wild and crazy potions in a specialty store, I mean, how Zen is that? There are also useful tips for meditation so you are essentially getting two books in one.This is a beautiful book educating us in healthful plant based recipes as well as meditation -setting it apart from others in the category! Great to read Cassandra's story and how she discovered the foods that enabled her to be her best self. I've followed her process and completely see how the different foods I eat make me feel. It's allowed me to make more conscious choices. The recipes and photography of the dishes are also excellent – it's enjoyable to pull off the shelf and use over and over again.

I adore this book. Full of recipes that make my mouth water, but so much more than that. It's easy to follow and images are gorgeous. Highly recommend!

My sister has been diagnosed with Fronto-Temporal Dementia, which is rare, fatal, and relatively quick, and I could not find information on the internet that was complete and reliable enough for my needs. I felt that one site said one thing, another site said something else, and every site only told part of the story. In this book I found everything I needed to know. I had not had the benefit of going to any of the medical appointments with my sister, so I really needed a book explaining the medical information in a way I could understand but still deeply enough that it would be useful. This great book talks about everything from possible causes, prognosis, stages of disease, what is happening in the brain, how I can help, history of the disease, when to do what, to....literally everything I wanted to know, and more. It doesn't pull any punches.If you are needing more information on dementia, this is your go-to book.

Good book for those of us who have the diagnosis of Frontal Temporal Dementia of a spouse. Has a lot of information that you can not always find right away. Very glad I bought the book. Could touch more on the financial aspect especially since FTD hits younger people and the high financial situation is hard for the surviving spouse, family.

When my brother was diagnosed with FTD 18 months ago I was all over the internet trying to get answers. I'd grab a bit here and little more there but never the entire field of view. This book helped me and the professional care givers understand thebeast within that we must learn to deal with. With so few cases each year, I even recommended this book to my brothers familydoctor who was treating him for depression. I was able to come to understand his weird behavior patterns over the last seven years and now have a better understanding of how to prepare for his end time. Thinking I was to blame for his problems because of sibling rivalry caused me many years of angst. For those of you burdened with a family member or friend with FTD, this is, unfortunately, a must read. I am now better prepared to get on with my life and help my brother with his limited life.

10 stars:My best friend from grade school, now 70, was dx with FTD, a little over a year ago. This author could have been writing her story. Her family is devistated and she is so helpless. This was the brightest, prettiest, best figure, most popular and (dam it), the sweetest and kindest of all of us, her life has been amazing. She spoke 5 languages and now, can't find a word in any, although, most of the time it is obvious that she knows what she wants to say. These authors were so "right on" with this terrible dementia, that I took this book for her family during my most recent visit. We all tend to think Alzheimer's, but it is worse, and was getting worse when misdiagnoised and treated for Alzheimer's, just like the author said.I hope you and your family will never need this book, but if you do, thank goodness they wrote it.DHR, Tucson, AZ

My 43 year old son has FTD. Until now I had never heard of the this type of dementia. Thw book was very helpful with how to apply for Socical Security and Medicade. Without this information it would have been difficult to wade through all the paperwork. I learned why he was acting the way he was and to be able to accept the man he is now and let go of the brillant man he was before this happened to him. I have read the book several times and gain more information each time. Wish his doctors would read it.

This book was recommend to me by a local Alzheimer's organization. I have found it very useful in understanding my mother's dementia. She was re-diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia and there were things that I read in the book that gave me a couple of Ah Ha moments.It's pretty straight forward and blunt. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has a loved one with dementia.

Disappointed in this guidebook. I have dozens of guidebooks that I have purchased to plan trips and have never found a book to be as useless as this one. I learned more about this city in the minutes I spent scanning another book at a bookstore than I did reading this one cover to cover.

I'm picky when it comes to city guides. I occasionally pick up one at a book kiosk at the airport, flip through it and while I'll sometimes find them informative, they frequently feel like someone "from away" has swooped into town, done mega research, and penned a 36-hour guide.Not so with Pamela McNaughtan's Urban Guide to Quebec City. The tips, the tone, the insider content -- you know it's written by someone who's planted herself in that city and knows "the people in her neighbourhood" -- as well as the places, the eateries, the best times (and ways) to check out historic sites and museums.The tips on 'what to do' are clearly crafted by someone who's visited multiple times and at different times of day. In short: by someone who lives there. And the foodie tips? Obviously, they come straight from the gut – not from Google.I've spent chunks of time in Quebec City. My longest stay of 6 weeks (for a French immersion program some years ago) gave me what I thought was a good insider take on one of the oldest cities in North America. Or so I thought. Pamela McNaughtan's book has provided entire layers of Quebec City that I somehow missed. Urban Guides: Quebec City has enticed me to go back again.

What a great guide to the city. With few options in English for travelers visiting the city, this is a god-send for independent travelers. It has a true local's slant to the information, sharing the stories of the people behind the recommendations as well, which I love. I have not yet visited the city, but I feel completely prepared now.Plus, in addition to being useful, it's gorgeous too! It's a pleasure to dig through the various sections and plan my trip to Quebec City.

Let's face it: if you're reading Steve's book, you probably recognize a lot of the trials he faced as a kid. You likely faced them yourself. I know I certainly did. But it's not just that the tale is a familiar one, it's that Steve presents it in a very endearing and sometimes profound manner. And while he's a comedian, this isn't a book written to elicit guffaws. It's one that illustrates a lesson many of us don't learn until well after high school: it's okay to not be popular, or beautiful, or feared. As long as you have good friends and can accept yourself for who you are, you'll be okay. A good book all-around, despite a shaky start. Steve definitely finds his footing, though, and it quickly becomes engrossing. Highly recommended.

But, you probably know him from the 300 stand-up shows he does every year.But, if you read Ginger Kid expecting it to be an extension of his stand up work, or a literary version of his heckler videos, it’s not. It’s better. (Okay, the heckler videos are literally examples of his stand up work.)Ginger Kid is a Young Adult book. It’s written for the same audience that it describes. Although I grew up on the opposite side of the country from New York City, I found lots of reflections of myself in Steve’s stories. From divorced parents, to being funny to fit in at a new school. At just under 300 pages, it’s a book I will return to in the future.What I LikedBeing familiar with Steve’s stand up comedy, I was expecting a more mature themed book. One of the first surprises was how effortlessly Steve brought the voice of a teenage boy to life. It’s a book I can encourage my kids to read. That surprised me, more than I like to admit.The stories Steve shares are each entertaining in and of themselves. He also weaves them together into a story arc that is compelling. He frames the entire sequence like a comedy show: Opener, Feature, Headliner. He casts himself in the role of each person, his own confidence matching the proficiency of each progressively better performer. It’s a compelling storytelling method.The book is also filled with bits of wit and wisdom, some worthy of a teenager, some evidence of much more maturity.Oh, and Steve is a baseball fan. I really like that part of the book.What I Didn’tSteve tells us about friends and does a good job of introducing each one. However, I read the book over the course of about a week. That meant I would set the book aside for a time and when I picked it up again. Like an experienced comedian, Steve would freqeuently call back to prior stories or people. It was sometimes hard to remember on later references just who he was referring to.By necessity, Steve had to pick and choose which experiences and people to focus on. He does a good job of building it all into a story. It also means that he touches on certain scenes or people and then moves on. Several times I found myself ending a scene and feeling I wanted to spend a little more time with the people I’d met. I’m sure I probably would have felt that way no matter how many words Steve had written about them.What It Means To YouI can wholeheartedly recommend Ginger Kid. If you are already a Redophile (A fan of Steve’s comedy) then Ginger Kid is going to give you some insight into how he became the comedian you enjoy. If you are new to Steve’s comedy, Ginger Kid is still an entertaining read. If you weren’t the nerd in high school, you probably knew him. If you weren’t bullied, you probably saw it happen.Ginger Kid is a hopeful story of how the geek, the nerd, the awkward kid, eventually grows up. We all have our high school memories. Ginger Kid lets you share in Steve’s memories.

As a talented standup comedian, Steve has had a lot of practice at storytelling. This well-crafted journey back through Steve's early years and the many experiences he had made me smile, laugh, get a little weepy, and even get angry at times (at his bullies). I recognized my own childhood bullies in some stories, as I think many readers of all ages will. It's good to know that there's life after bullies. I even got my mom into it by loaning her my ebook, and then she borrowed my hardcover copy to finish it. "His humor is in everything," she said. "Even the chapter titles."

As someone who actually lived through some of this with Steve, (no I'm not Hope or Alexa or Beth), I found this trip down memory lane hilarious. From elementary school, Hebrew school and USY, Steve has always been able to make me laugh, when he wasn't pissing me off. This book made me question if I was one of his bullies (haven't found me in the book yet), made me laugh at the stories about his family since I spent a lot of time at their house being friends with his sister, and miss the cheesebus! (Never thought I would ever say that!!)

As someone that would often fake being sick for a half-hour breather in the nurses’ office I found this book incredibly relatable - not just because we’re both gingers either. I highly recommend this book to anyone who felt like an outcast in high school. Even though it was so long ago, cause he’s so old, there is a bit of solace in knowing you weren’t alone...

Steve reminds us all that nobody really is perfect. Something every school kid needs to be reminded of. Buy it.

So funny! So heart-warming. So insightful into my own experiences. I love Steve Hoffstetter. Love his book. I gifted it to my son (age 26) and he loved it too. I highly recommend this book!

Great insight into explaining the isolation of bullied kids. Hope many will learn how they can overcome and succeed as Steve did. Was sorry when I came to the end.

I purchased this to enjoy reflective reading and applying to my life while hoping for some inspiration. I admit that much of the poems considered "great poetry" leaves me scratching my head, and feeling disappointed in not having the type of intellect to grasp the whole or primary message the poet is trying to convey.I purchased this book to repeat the reading of some of the great poems we studied in Literature class in High School. So far I am very pleased with having especially the "giants" to read and I'll, admit, if you won't tell anyone.....primise? ....that I hope with my old age now, I'll finish reading some of these and respond with an enthusiastic, "Ahh! I get it now!"

We ordered this book for my elderly mother in law who was confined to bed the last 8 months of her life. She wanted to keep her mind sharp and her childhood memories included memorizing poetry offered a diversion from just watching TV. I recommend this book to teach kids some of he classics they are not learning any more

I'm proud to be an American because our poets like Walt Whitman. Edgar Allen poe and Emily Dickinson are one of my favorite poets poetry is great

I like the great diversity of poems in this edition and that is part of why I gave it such high marks. I enjoyed a great number of these poems. As one who received a degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing, I can say i have studied and enjoyed many of these poems while also not enjoying a few that have bothered me over the years, LoL.I was happily surprised to find that Abe Lincoln was even in here. I like the poem that was chosen by the editors that he wrote.A few of the poems i sifted through were a few of my least favorite. While I enjoy T. S. Eliot, I do not like The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock! Perhaps it is because I had to spend so much time studying that poem, but it just is not one of my favorites. I also am not a fan of the poem The Red Wheelbarrow! However, as a poet myself, I do respect the man as an author no matter how much i dislike that poem.Some of my favorites like Ars Poetica, Fire And Ice, and The Raven far exceed any poems I do not have a passion for. I highly recommend this book for anyone that loves poetry!

This is a great little book. I was interested in American Poetry and this selection of authors was very good. We have so many talented people in the good ole USA and this makes me proud. I remembered so many of the poems in the book and had not thought about them for years. I heard a quote from an old poem and looked it up online and then searched Amazon and this little book was the dose of poetry I needed. Thanks...

Great collection of American poems, I take it with me when I know I'll have a little down time and want some travel through the poetic minds of my country.

I guess I expected too much. I enjoyed reading some of them, however, isn’t poetry an objective subject!Have several hand held books at home, so I can’t honestly compare.

I've used this anthology in several of my classes. While it doesn't have every poem I'd like to cover (what anthology does, though?) it is an excellent place to start, and a fine way to introduce many of the great American poets to students. Since it's so cost effective, too, I recommend that students purchase their own copy so they can write in it as they dissect some of the poems. All in all, a great little book. Plus it's light, making it easy to carry in a backpack or purse.

Milewski is an outstanding book for anyone interested in quickly coming up to speed in the rapidly expanding field of 3D fabrication of metal structures. Written by one of the pioneers of this field, J. O. Milewski has clearly condensed all the major AM processes into one very readable book, without the use of high level mathematics or technical jargon that complicates many of the other AM publications. The fundamentals of lasers, electron beams, and welding arcs, as used to make 3D “printed” parts from both powder and wire feedstock are presented, and connected to each other by the underlying formation of a localized liquid metal melt pool that is used to build structures with dimensions from microns to meters, layer by layer, without the use of molds. The cited references are open sourced, so that the reader can easily access additional information to dig deeper into any specific topic, while acronyms and language specific to metal AM is presented in the book’s glossary to make this job easier for readers new to the field. I’ve read all the volumes prior to this one, and I’ve greatly enjoyed them, so of course, I continued with Volume 4. I’m just hoping it’s as good as the previous volumes!The first thing I noticed is that Ch. 1’s art is different from what I’ve come to expect, but it’s not terrible or anything. It’s honestly objectively good, even if it’s a bit different. The art looks different after chapter 1, more in line with what I’ve come to expect from previous volumes. As for the stories, they were pretty good – the “Zim Zoo” chapter is particularly amusing.Overall, this is a good, solid volume. If you’ve been reading along this long, there’s no reason not to pick up this volume. If you haven’t read any of them, you could start here, but I see no reason why you would. Either way, for Zim fans, I recommend it!

This series is never dissapointing to me. As an Invader Zim fan I would say this is the closest fans can get to a continuation of the shortly run tv series, as what makes this comic series great is that it reads like the show. The classic is wonderfully translated into comic form. Definitely recommend to any Invader Zim fan.

I love these comics I'm collecting them all

Since this is a collection of stories, I'll review each individually.Story 1****Dib scares Zim, so Zim decides he must return the favor. He must find something that will scare Dib and so he enrolls Gaz's help.-Some of Dib's ideas of what are scary are sometimes quite humorous (some are just ewww). And the way that Gaz manipulates Zim is equally funny. I think this story summarizes Dib and Zim's relationship quite well (and as a sidenote illustrates that Gaz could easily take over the universe if she decided to).Story 2****Zim and Dib are kidnapped by an alien and must prove their courage and strength through a story to get free. They tell more and more elaborate whoppers in an effort to break free.-Oh my, some of the stories are just...well, imaginative doesn't seem to do these justice.Story 3***Zim is trying to prove to his tallest that he is a good invader, so he decides to take over Burrito King and become the Burrito King. It's going ok until Gir becomes the chef and the real Burrito King gains time to gather an army and take back his kingdom, I mean restaurant.-Way too many beans in this episode.Story 4***It's parents occupation day at school. Zim tries to pretend like he doesn't have parents, but his robot parents and Gir have other plans. They show up and claim to run a zoo in the back yard. Of course, Dib demands proof. So Zim creates a "zoo" and must fool Earthen authorities to avoid arrest.-You almost feel sorry for Dib in this one that he hasn't realized by now that fighting all of this is just foolish. (And be warned, there's some gross factor involved in some of the zoo animals.) On the plus side, Gir has some great lines.Story 5*****Zim has created a conquer-blob that the computer predicts is 100% guaranteed to help him take over the Earth. However, while the blob is finished being created and going out conquering, Zim gets distracted by a horrible TV show Gir is addicted to. 500 seasons later, he wanders out to check his creation's progress.-This, this is amazing. The hyperbole of getting sucked into a TV show that you know is awful and pointless and yet you still watch will resonate with so many. The fact that the addictive show ruins Zim's foolproof plan just makes it all the more hilarious. (The raccoons that join the TV fest and then turn to skeletons are a little disturbing.)Story 6****Zim creates a device that will blow up all Irken tech nearby and therefore hopefully blow up Dib with all the tech he's swiped. Zim has also rigged the device to go off any time it hears a loud voice. Yeah, this can't possibly go wrong...-And Zim's impeccable logic along with Gir's idiosyncrasies triumphs once again. (And by triumphs I mean makes us laugh and keeps Zim stuck on Earth to entertain us another day.)Notes on content: No language issues or sexual content. There's some gross factor involved in the humor occasionally. Some characters seem to get hurt but they appear 100% ok in the next episode so don't worry about it.

Through the author’s respectful and thought-provoking critique of the past 5 presidential administrations we are able to see where our foreign policy has served us well and where it has failed. The author does an amazing job of sifting through his years of service focusing on critical events and policies that give context to not only where we have been and where we are, but even more importantly what the future could be! While politically there were policies I opposed, I closed the book with an incredible respect and appreciation for the hard work, intelligence, and agility that goes into achieving a coherent and credible foreign policy. I couldn’t help but think how lucky our country had been to have the service of William Burns. And despite the incredibly challenging times before us, after reading “The Back Channel”, I am left with the belief that there will be others following William Burns that are ready to dedicate themselves to developing and implementing a coherent foreign policy/diplomacy that recognizes our values, respects the values of others and can still give hope to the world. And even more importantly upon finishing the book, I am left knowing that while changes may be necessary to reflect the dynamics of a new world, it is critical that the work of diplomacy not only continue but be made a priority for our country! I was honored to receive a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the Publisher, Random House in exchange for an honest review.

I could not recommend this book more highly. When I was the Air Force planner, I got to know Bill Burns's father--a distinguished public servant. His son follows in his footsteps. As America faces an uncertain future, Bill Burns's book should be the guidebook, especially for those who live in the world of diplomacy. These are great!! Holds up to my very physical 8mo son!! He loves tearing and crinkling paper so these are great for that bc they don’t tear.The one issue I have with these is that the sewn seam that holds the pages together is coming unsewn, so I give these a 4 star. I can easily sew a seam across and fix it...but I wish I didn’t have to do that.

There really isn't much to the book to be honest. I was a little dissapointed in that fact. But so far it appears that it is indestructible as described. My daughter has eaten it, bent it, spilled formula on it and it is still here. The main reason I bought these books was for that reason, I didn't like the paper coming off other board books after she put them into her mouth. So far I'm happy I ordered them, let's just hope they withstand years of baby/toddler abuse.

These books are wonderful and my 9 month old grandson chews on them, wads them up, loves to make the crinkle sound with the pages and sleeps with a couple of the books nearby! They make great gifts and are easy to mail. I want my grandson to live books and these are a great introduction to the wonderful world of books!

We love the Indestructibles, we've had them in the bath, in the diaper bag, everywhere and they hold up. Grown men have tried tearing them and failed. A friends book came in the mail and was crumpled, after spending the night under a heavy book it was flat as it could be! She gets practice turning real pages and I get peace of mind knowing I don't have to go finger fishing in her mouth for wadded paper.

Great sleepy-time wind-down book. We love that this is indestructible as our 13 month old likes to attempt to shred board books now with hands and teeth. This book is tear and chew proof and even though the pages are thinner it doesn't cause paper cuts because of the material.

I love these books and so does my daughter. They really do seem to be indestructible! The illustrations are really cute and the children featured are diverse. They're great for pointing out daily life objects and talking about new words. They're awesome for the car and to carry in the diaper bag since they're super light weight. I have washed them in warm soapy water to reshape them and let them air out and they came out perfect. I've purchased several different ones. Love them!

These books are a dream! They feel like paper and act like paper, but don't rip or tear. I have 2 in the car and one in my 17 month old's bed. He can't nail myself or himself in the head like board books and when they fall on the floor of the mini van or fall out of the stroller and get trampled by the other 3 kids they just go into the wash. These are the GREATEST BOOKS ever. Now, if only they came in Moo, Baa, La-La-La and Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Goodnight Moon then I would never purchase board books again!
