I don't really have trouble finding the words to pray, in general. But I thought that this book might work with folks who are more artistically inclined, and that they could express themselves in drawing as opposed to using words. I purchased it to give to a friend who has a heart for prayer. I read it when it first arrived and tried the suggestions. Here's the surprising and unexpected experience I had in using these suggestions. A few days after reading through the book I was praying for someone that I've been praying for for years. They've been struggling and I've been struggling right along with them. For so long a time I've been laboring in prayer over them that sometimes I just have no words when I pray for them. Then I picked up a tablet grabbed some pens and wrote their name on the page and just began drawing water (the living water of Christ), fire (the passionate love that God has for them). I scribbled different scriptures as they came to mind. It was as much a prayer as I've every said but was wordless. It was meditative and drew my own heart out of the despair I would sometimes experience when praying for this person. It became a prayer that lifted me up as well. I was ministered to by the Holy Spirit in this and faith just surged in my heart for God's work in both of our lives.

At first I was disappointed because I thought there would be useable sample pages included to color and learn. This is not the case. However its simplicity is refreshing and ideas and instruction is exactly what I needed. I highly recommend this book, just dont expect pictures to color to be included in it. There are diagrams that are helpful throughout. If your a hard to sit still person, this is awesome.

I really appreciate that this book helps the reader explore creativity in prayer. The book's subtitle is "Drawing a New Path to God" and in many ways it can help create that. I have been struggling with prayer and had been eyeing this book for several months before I bought it. The idea of using colors and drawings in place of words was very appealing to me.For the most part, this book helps the reader find new ways to pray for the long list of people that has been accumulated, and for whom the reader is either uncertain how to pray or doesn't know what to pray anymore. If you need a new way to pray for your list, then this book might be for you.The author very briefly describes ways to use color and drawing for other things as well -- "Some days we just want to dump all our complaints, whining, grumpiness, and misery on God" (67). There is also a very brief mention of ways to use this creative process for thanksgiving, forgiveness, laying out your spiritual journey, celebrating mentors, a personal mission statement, names of God, Christian words (like salvation, sacrifice). The author also shows ways to memorize and explore Scripture, to remember an event, and to practice discernment through this creative practice.About half-way through the book, however, I began to wonder about the definition of prayer. It was only towards the end of the book that I read even a glimpse about hearing from God - mainly through the practice of lectio divina. Perhaps I missed it somewhere in the book. And perhaps my expectations were off, but when I picked up this book I was hoping for new and creative ways to hear from God, not go through my long list of requests. I will definitely utilize the general creative ideas that the author puts forth in the book, just not for the laundry list.

For me this book helped me finding a new way to pray when I felt like my passion for prayer had been wanting. As an individual that was diagnosed with ADD, I totally identified with the my highly distracted and day-dreamer type person. So hard to stay focused or not drift off to sleep.The use of scripture and so many different ways to apply this, opened my mind to so many possibilities with prayer that I had never considered. The descriptions and illustrations are exceptionally helpful. I definitely was picking up everything that Sister Sybil is throwing down in this exceptional book on prayer in color. I love this so much. I struggle to focus when I pray, and having something to do with my hands and focus my attention without also having to come up with a bunch of words (like I do with journaling) makes praying a much more helpful and fruitful experience. Every time while I was reading that I thought of another way I could use this, I discovered she wrote a chapter on it. So many approaches! And for maybe the first time in my life, I look forward to praying, and it feels less like a difficult but necessary discipline and more like a joy. I'm a pastor and I've been using this to pray for one of my church member families each day, and then I give it to them after, and it's been very cool to see their reaction. We are doing this as a part of our upcoming Lenten series on different ways to pray, and I'm so excited to see how people respond to it.

A whole new world has opened up for me. This form of praying is so perfect for me. I doodle. I pray. I love colors and I most certainly love God. I spend time speaking with God as my pen moves around the sketch paper. Thank you. Sybil MacBeth.

I'm sure this book would be great for some people. The one thing that it has been valuable for me .... it has given me inspiration in regard to a new way of journaling, and other long hand types of studying that I do. Not really doing the recommendations in the book, but it was worth the money to spur the imagination.

I really enjoyed this book. I just finished reading the entire collection of three books, all 3,589 pages. I would have liked to see a follow-up on some of the family members after their story was told but that would probably have been another thick volume. Gilbert Morris is one of my favorite writers and I have read many of his books. Shipping took longer than expected by I attribute that to the USPS. According to tracking, this item arrived and left Charlotte NC four times.

This is one of my all time favorite books and series. I've learned more about the civil war and the feelings in both the north and the south then I ever did before. I understand it much better now. The author also showed how God worked in the lives of so many different people in different situations and I felt that I learned more about Him as well. I know I highlighted more in these books than any others. This is a series you will want to buy so you can re-read it another time, and so you can loan them to others. Great books!

I enjoyed the saga, Dr. Morris storytelling and the way he ties the characters and books together are fun to read. You get a history of the time period from a personal perspective of the characters as well as a good storyline. He makes you feel the emotions and mindset along with the characters. Keep writing and teaching the history of our country in such a colorful way.

The Civil War era is one of my favorite to read. The author delivers a wonderful blend of history, romance and drama that is inspirational. This book continues to follow the Rocklins as their lives unfold in Virginia during the Civil War. Now on to Saga 3,

Awe inspiring and historically accurate. A true snapshot of a war wherein both sides felt they were serving God and yet both had opposite opinions about freedom and slavery. This novel makes one rethink attitudes of prejudice and why the North, altlhough prejudiced against the AfricanAmerican yet the South was indeed of varied opinions of the value of a human being. Some southerners loved their slaves and others had the NAZI mentality. Makes one question the sense of war wherein one group of human beings justifies killing another group without complete knowledge and putting the "cause" above the value of human life. I believe this may be why Jesus did not take sides against the persecuting Romans but rather the His country's religious elite.

I love this series. I was pleasantly surprised by the Christian emphasis, Following the Rocklin family through the growth and trials of family life along with the emphasis of the Civil War can be inspiring to families that find modern times not that much different from the 1800's.

I want to be invited to a Rocklin family reunion! The reader can't help but fall in love with all of the characters. You mourn deaths and celebrate births. It seems as if you really get to experience the horrors of the Civil War beyond the fighting. I could read 29 books in this series!

A Story woven in history and humanity. I found myself relating to the humor, confusion and angst of the characters. Written with a clear understanding of the complexities of the thoughts, behaviors and cluelessness of people in any age! Opens doors of understanding for the times.

This book was highly recommended to me by my assistant editor. I eagerly awaited its arrival. I was SO disappointed by it. For one thing it's about 3 inches thick! The photos of the screens, that you really need to see, are of poor quality. I could barely see them. Should have been printed on glossy paper or some other way to see them better. The book is not easily searchable. I looked in the index for some basic questions, like "How do I make scrolling titles" and couldn't find it easily. It's just not laid out well and I don't need to carry around a ten pound book! Maybe it's good for younger eyes but wasn't for me. I switched from Final Cut 7 to premier and really wanted a companion book to help me over the learning curve but for $70, 1200 pages and lousy images and organization, I would rather just hire a tutor!

Excellent resource with all of the tips, tricks and explanations lacking in other publications. Definitely geared towards the advanced Premiere Pro editor looking to expand their knowledge of shortcuts, features, best practices, troubleshooting and efficient workflows.My one gripe is the quality of the paperback edition. It is printed on light weight paper that causes 3 issues: 1. The paper bunches up as if water damaged, and lends to the book having a wavy appearance and space in between sections of pages when sitting flat. It doesn't feel high quality like a book that stays flat and compressed down under it's own weight. 2. The pages are so thin I can read through to the text on the flip side, as well as see dark blocks of the images on the flip side. Somewhat distracting. 3. Images are sometimes of poor resolution or print quality, as if printed on a standard inkjet printer. Some are dark while others that attempt to show before and after comparisons are indistinguishable. See photos for examples.I assume there was a compromise made between the page count and how thick it would be if using heavier weight, quality paper.I also highly recommend getting your hands on the PDF version as a digital reference, which Apress currently offers paperback owners for only $5 on their website. Instructions on how to get the discount are found on final pages of paperback edition.

Absolutely the most comprehensive book on Premier Pro available. I can't recommend this highly enough. It's saved me a lot of time and frustration as I've worked to sharpen my Premier skills.

Very well put together instruction book on advanced Premiere Pro tips and skills. The author has extensive knowledge and provides plenty of information and links to support topic. A must have for any Premiere Pro editor. I would be an excellent training course for classroom or online class work.

I rarely write these things but I wanted to thank the authors so much for creating this incredible resource. I'm a 20 year motion picture editors guild member working in broadcast TV exclusively on Avid and reading this book has finally made me comfortable enough to take jobs on Premiere. Total Workday Control works extremely well on so many levels. I write to review two of them.First, the author's conceptual platform has brought order to the chaos of my busy practice. What do I HAVE TO DO today? How to prioritize the things I can realistic work on over the next two weeks? How do I track and manage the myriad of other challenges? Linenberger has compelling and workable answers to those questions.Second, receiving 200+ substantive emails a day prior to TWC resulted in a bloated in-box full of many land mines of embedded tasks. Stress levels spiked as the box (and deadlines) got larger and required more time to maintain. TWC provides an efficient method to drain that swamp each day, processing the Inbox to empty, placing to do items where they belong...both in Outlook and in my practice.Been following this system for 6 years.Bravo to the author for the excellent improvements in the 5th Edition. Each new edition has been a fantastic read.

I am a big fan of Michael's work. As a lawyer I am constantly under a barrage of emails and deadlines and MYN is the only system that handles urgency well. Now I am able to have clean inbox and a sensible Now tasks list instead to +100 projects list and +150 next actions list filled with unimportant, dead weight tasks with little value. For me GTD keeps you busy, MYN keeps me moving in the right direction.

This is a book that literally "changed my life." I know that sounds trite, or like a cliche, but it is absolutely true. If you are a "knowledge worker" who uses Microsoft Outlook, you should absolutely buy this book. I guarantee you will benefit from it.I first heard of Michael Linenberger when I came across his book The One Minute To-Do List: Quickly Get Your Chaos Completely Under Control in the bookstore. It turns out you can download a PDF of that book at the author's website (Google his name) for FREE. I suggest you check that out, which will introduce you to a simplified version of the system in Total Workday Control (TWC). Also, check out all the reviews for the earlier editions of Total Workday Control. You'll see I'm not the only one excited about this system. If it seems like useful information, buy this book.In Total Workday Control, you are introduced to the simple yet amazing To Do list management system the author came up with. Then he gets into the nitty gritty of using Outlook to get your email and To Do list organized. He literally takes you screen by screen and click by click through setting up both Email and Tasks to make sure you 1. Have a completely empty Inbox every day, and 2. Never let something you're supposed to do or want to do slip through the cracks again. I can't explain how good it feels to empty my Inbox every day. And I am on top of my work like never before. I know the tasks I have to do are on my list, and tasks I need to do in the future will show up on my list exactly when I need them to. All emails are responded to, and I'm working on the most critical tasks first. It's like magic.Like many others, I read and tried to implement Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen, but found it lacking when it came to practical implementation. I also felt like I spent more time managing the time management system than actually working! The TWC system works synergistically with GTD, if that's what you're into. But if you've never read GTD, you won't be missing anything, because this is a stand alone system. And the strength of this book is in the implementation. You will know exactly what to do and how to do it. Every time I was reading and thought to myself, "That sounds good, but what about...?", my question was answered within a sentence or two. It was like he was reading my mind! That's because the author has "been there, done that" and knows what it's like in the real world. You'll swear this guy has been following you around, watching what you do all day, and then came up with solutions just for you.By the way, if you don't use Outlook, but are still interested in this amazing system, check out the author's website. He has solutions for you, too.Get this book. You'll be glad you did.

I have used Outlook for a very long time. I have followed the author for a number of years and I always learn something and improve on my system of organization in Outlook from his books. But I have to say, he has really outdone himself with this 4th Edition. I found myself fascinated with the depth of knowledge with the Outlook software. I have found over the years a number of nagging issues with the program, so it was a real bonus to have those issues addressed in this book. I read it cover-to-cover; did not want to miss a drop. Not only have I improved time management, but my knowledge of this fairly complex, and powerful piece of software has greatly improved. And believe me I have read a number of Outlook books over the years; nothing compares. Thank you Mr. Linenberger.

This book I bought on a whim while looking for something else entirely. Like many people, I know how to use Outlook well and have been for many years, but never have been taught a formal "process" for managing floods of emails and tasks. To that end, this book is a game changer.I think the book paid for itself in the first day. I no longer worry about really important tasks getting lost in an inbox 100 ft deep. At the end of every day, my inbox is literally empty. And the anxiety of looking at overdue tasks in red and having to sift through a lot of tasks that aren't due for a number of weeks are things of the past.Don't even think twice- but this book. I am sure there are other systems out there that work just as well if not better. But if you don't have a system, try this one.Easy to read.Step by step diagrams on how to finetune your Outlook software. You don't have to be an Outlook pro to benefit from this. Quite the contrary.Have found not one error in the book.Online explainer videos, some of which are free
