Amazon Best Sellers Rank:

#2,017 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

To caveat my review, I confess I am not a fan of steamy romance. This was a great story, but just when it got meaty in the conversation, the couple jumped into bed for pretty explicit sex scenes. The story could have been developed in greater detail and had so many opportunities. I am a fan of Regency and Victorian novels; however, the language was inconsistent with the period portrayed, which threw me off in my reading.

From the first page Scarlett kept me glued to the sparks flying between Araminta and Clay. Here is a man without title and also a master's in love with a daughter of an Earl. You think like Romeo and Juliet, you're not alone but you're not right either.Parents intervened, two are separated and years pass with lies and hurt between them. Then a murder, a threat, and the lovers meet again....Scarlett Scott has you so caught up that you just can't stop reading til the end and what an ending. This book is the first of new series and the first book that I have read by Scarlett, I love how inbetween chapters that she catches us up (the reader) of Clay and Ara's past and then blends in the present she's an outstanding author that I am now claiming as one of my favorite authors. Now on to her next book💕

It explains why the bastard brother is angry and how he gets to find love.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book very much. I know I will completely enjoy reading the League of Dukes series.

Just finished Nobody's Duke and loved every word. Ara and Duke love each other so much even their hate speach is hot. Torn apart by circumstances beyond their control they fight each other, for each other, and the ones they love. I gave it 4 stars because it was a little predictable but incredibly well written. Looking forward to the next installment of the Dukes.

I know this will sound quite backhanded, but this was a great read because it doesn’t screw up. I mean I did not trip over anachronisms. No horse o carriage Bart’s were misnamed. The characters didn’t go flat, and the settings fit the conflict.

A widow with secretsWhen the dangerous men who killed her husband in a political assassination threaten Ara, Duchess of Burghly, the Crown assigns her a bodyguard. But the man charged with protecting her is no stranger.A man with a broken heartShe’s the only woman Clay ever loved and the one he hates above all others. When Ara brutally betrayed and deceived him, leaving him with a scarred face and a bitter heart, he devoted himself to earning his reputation as one of the Crown’s most feared agents. This was my introduction to this new to me author. This book is an excellent second chances story filled with intrigue, misconceptions and interfering relatives in the past. Both parties think the other betrayed them because someone else made it seem so.I loved this pair and knew from the start that they belonged together. The characterization of all involved was excellently spun into a somewhat typical second chances scenario with just enough differences to make this a very engaging story..I gave this book 4.8 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization. The young son of our couple is very engaging and a real heartrending addition to this story.I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book via Netgalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

The plot description and reviews gave me hope this would be an enjoyable read. I was bored spitless. The constant repetition of the hero and heroine's angry remembrances of perceived betrayal eight years previously wore thin after the first few repetitions. Unfortunately, 80 per cent of the book is filled with this. The one saving grace is that the book isn't riddled with grammatical, spelling, or usage errors.
